My first attempt at creating a floating object - reed and polypropylene rope woven around a recycled styrofoam core.
I am thinking about the variety of opportunities for buoys carrying data logging devices, measuring nitrogen and dissolved oxygen levels in the water, for example. I use these buoy forms to observe and record changes in the environment; working with a scientific approach to art-making, the data I collect further informs the direction of my work.
