My first attempt at creating a floating object - natural reed and polypropylene rope woven around a recycled styrofoam core.

I am thinking about the variety of opportunities for buoys carrying data logging devices. For example, measuring nitrogen and dissolved oxygen levels in the water. I can use this buoy to observe and record changes in the environment; working with a scientific approach to art-making, the data I collect could further inform the direction of my work.
