Slumped plate glass with hand-drawn diagrams of a complex Clarification system commonly used in industrial water treatment plants. The drawing was silk-screened onto plate glass using enamels. Since the silk-screen operates as a permeable membrane, filtration and permeability are part of the process as well as the concept.

The Clarification system shown here changes throughout the series. As the series progresses, the system becomes less discernible. With each glass plate, I wiped away larger areas of the drawing, smearing the enamel and obscuring the details.

As our water filtration systems become more complex, the less understanding and awareness we have about where our water comes from and how it is recycled.
